Aston Villa manager thriller

What on earth is going on down at the Villa eh? To be honest I think it will of been a mixed week for the Villa faithful, I would not of been too sad to see the back of Mr Houllier, let’s be fair he did a good job at Liverpool for a time but i think his time has been and gone, if, and this is a big if, if they can appoint the right man this could be a blessing in disguise.

Like I say Gérard had some fantastic times at Liverpool but let’s not let the poor man’s treble get in the way of some of the less celebratory facts, this was, less we forget, the man who choose to sign everyone’s favourite gob sh*te el hadji diouf over le sulk himself Nicolas Anelka, and as sulky as Nic may be he’s ten times the player Diouf will ever be. Transfers where certainly hit and miss with Gerrard at Liverpool and a little look at these 3 deals cements that fact – El Hadji Diouf (10 million), Salif Diao (5 million), Bruno Cheyrou (4 million)
And the less said about Djimi Traoré the better ( before people jump on me for this one i know he was only £500,000 but in my books that’s the equivalent of paying 3 grand for half a twix)
So parting company may not be the worst thing that’s has happened, especially in the close season where judging by previous form he may have gone on a spending rampage for the dregs of the league (I envisioned Wayne Bridge been snapped up for 5 million, perish the thought Villa fans!)

So who next for the Villans, They seem to have gone from chasing Europe’s elite in Ancelotti to less high profile options. Big eck Alex McLeish is the bookies favourite but not with the fans (let’s face it they should love him after what he did to the brum). I like big Eck purley cause he reminds me of my Yorkshire roots, by heck! Back to it though I really don’t think McLeish is the right man for the job, alienating your fans may be viable when you’re chasing Mourinho but not the ginger relegation miester.

High five randy?

My moneys still on Mark Hughes, i just think there’s some red tape holding that up, seems strange they chased him last summer then he quits Fulham just in time to get the job and nothing happens, strange indeed.

Let’s have some names thrown in the hat then and if anyone wants to defend Mr Houllier’s transfer policy be my guest, it’s going to be harder than Giggsy getting an invite to the next Giggs family get together.

Big Baz
